This first infused vodka makes any drink vibrant and fun. It is a snap to put together… the only hard part is waiting for it to infuse after that! These flavorful vodkas are great because you get to decide what goes in!
You will need:
1 liter of non-flavored vodka
2 medium sized grapefruit
2/4 cup basil leaves
First you need a jar. Any jar big enough to fit the ingredients and that you can seal tightly. I used the good old Ball Mason jar.
Using a vegetable peeler, remove the zest from both grapefruit, being careful to avoid as much of the white pith that lies between the skin and the flesh of the fruit as possible (pictured below).
Add the zest to the jar and using your fingers tear the basil leaves and add to the jar as well.
Pour in the vodka.
Seal and refrigerate for 2-5 days (depending on how strong you want the flavor to be), shaking the jar a couple times per day. Once your vodka has infused, strain out the grapefruit and basil and discard. Store vodka in a new bottle or put it back in the jar. Unique and delicious drink recipes to follow shortly!
